Perfect Day: Madison Children's Photography

It stormed a good portion of the night before this session. I wondered what the next morning would bring. Thankfully it brought perfect weather for this lovely session of siblings. Really I have so many pictures to choose from I didn't know what to use for my sneak peek! I so I randomly picked a few for your to enjoy...

We were out by the lake and it was a bit windy - little miss H has the cutest hair and I caught her in this pose after brushing it out of her face.

Sisters in playland: Madison family photographer

These two girls live in a little wonderland just outside the city. I mean really it has two tree swings, a jungle gym, a huge marry-go-round, rocks to traverse, hills to climb up, horses to feed, (electric fences to zap yourself on - oh wait that was just me!), random cats to hang out with, many flowers to pick and admire and all of this is just steps outside of a house with a loving family. I loved having you show me your place. Really you girls are very lucky. 

 

Exploring close to home: Madison, WI children's photographer

I love going on location for my shoots, even when on location is just a clients house and neighborhood. Many times clients think that we need lush gardens as a backdrop for great portraits - honestly you need someplace for kids to explore and be happy or engaged and if you are lucky, something to add a bit of additional interest (a colored wall, strong lines like tracks, bright environmental props) Within about three blocks of this clients house were awesome railroad tracks, some great buildings and alleys and a beach - really there were so many places to shoot I didn't even begin to scratch the surface! Thanks for dealing with less than ideal weather to come out to play with me today. Here are a few that jumped out at me this evening.

I had a really fun session the other night. I know mom is anxiously waiting and so I wanted to get a quick peek up -  I have lots of wonderful group playing shots (including the shot we were looking for but I am going to make you wait for it :) ). I am having a blast editing this session.

On Mother's Day I posted a sneak peek of brand new miss Isabella. Well, I didn't want to leave our the rest of the family. So here is a peek of mom, dad, big brother and their precious newborn.

Happy Mother's Day

I get to meet and hang out with many wonderful mothers. Some start out as friends others become friends either way it is wonderful to connect with other women and to talk about mom things. It is pretty amazing to do work that embraces two of my passions: photography and motherhood. This is just a quick sneak peak for a friend/mom. Almost many years ago her son was one of the first babies I photographed for my portfolio. This May it was a pleasure to photograph her daughter at 11 days old. Happy mothers's day to Jenni and all of the mothers out there. Hope you are enjoying your days.

Ready to see the world: Milwaukee Newborn Photography

This little guy was such fun he was peacefully sleeping when I arrived.

Just like this...

I snapped a couple of shots just to check the light and went to my car for the rest of my stuff. He woke up and ate and proceeded to hang out with his mommy and me for the next couple of hours. Sleeping baby pics were not in the cards for this session. It was just fine because he was just so curious about the world. At three weeks he seems like he has a lot to think about...

I had a great time hanging out and playing with you and chatting with your momma and hope to meet your big brother in the near future!

Vote for Me

Hey everyone - isn't that a lovely picture? It was taken in 2006 when my husband and I took our belated honeymoon trip to Italy (9-11 canceled our first honeymoon and we took a while to re-plan the trip). Civita is a  little hilltop town accessed by the footbridge you see in the picture and we took a day trip there while we were in Orvieto. It was a great day and admittedly we went there because of the Rick Steves guidebook - but it was really cool to see something that old and that remote - and the lunch we had was outstanding. I still think about that meal many years later.

This has nothing to do with family or child photography. However, I am asking your for your help. I have entered this photo into a contest and awards are based on both a panel and popular vote... so I need your help.
