Despite what seems like it was going to be prohibitively cold weather, we took off with our friends to hunt for a tree today. Dug and Liv recommended a place in Waunakee this year and after a couple of years of less than stellar luck cutting our own tree at our old standby we made the switch. It was a short walk and a quick hunt and though it was cold it was not as windy as I expected and it was manageable. The place had a live reindeer that the kids got to pet and they had fun rambling around in the snow. Liv had a sled that got quick but fun use and the outing ended with yummy Indian buffet. Really quite a nice day....and the tree though not yet completely decorated because we lost well over half of our lights between this year and last ( "they just don't make them like they used to" says old lady Amy), our tree is looking nice in our new living room.
This is why I hate "stand and smile" pictures - ben has discovered the fake smile - he is still cute, but ugh
and I just love the look in Nora's eyes on this one - just slightly concerned while the other kids are screaming their heads off.
